OPS Clinical Assistant

The Clinical Assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist attending hospitalist physicians enabling them to work to their full potential. This requires an organized, detail-oriented individual that is self-motivated and willing to collaborate with many different individuals along the care continuum. Additionally, this individual must be able to build and maintain productive working relationships with various UF Health Shands Hospital departments.

Job Description:

• Pre-rounding with patients and nurses to identify and note down the patient's questions and concerns for the physician.
• Participating in the Case Management rounds.
• Participating in Interdisciplinary rounds, pend orders for physicians to sign during rounds.
• Calling consults and following up with consulting physicians for updates.
• Requesting records.
• Informing nurses and case managers about the plan of care after rounds.
• Updating patients and their families about day-to-day issues that do not involve clinical explanations.
• Updating the attending physician throughout the day.

$15 - $17 hourly, commensurate with experience.

High school diploma and 3 years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
• A high level of professionalism and acumen is also necessary for the individual to effectively make decisions and complete assignments of a moderately complex nature with minimal supervision.
• A strong understanding of basic computer operations and knowledge of Microsoft Office is requisite.
• An understanding of medical terminology is highly desirable as well.
