Optical Components Lead

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to the procurement and/or development of optical components and sub-assemblies used in Silicon Photonics products. The components include laser packages and fiber arrays.
• Responsibilities would include full life-cycle support of the components, from initial design selection/development, procurement and full characterization to reliability qualification and high-volume manufacturing. Also act as the main point of contact with various vendors to enable the completion of all the above milestones, and also resolve any performance/yield/supply issues.
• Work with assembly partners on process development for integration of these components into the final product. Also support performance and reliability assessments of the final assemblies.
• Own test and demonstration vehicles that implement and integrate these optical assemblies into larger systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Specialized skills
  • Strong experience designing and working with fiber-optic and integrated-optics components and assemblies.
  • Experience with Silicon Photonics component design
  • Experience running reliability assessment and qualification programs for optical components.
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes for integrating external components into Silicon photonics/integrated-optics products.
  • Experience with setting up test stations for optical component characterization and familiarity with standard test equipment (tunable lasers, PWMs, OSAs).
  • Experience with free-space design software (Zemax, Code-V)
  • Experience with Silicon photonic simulation packages (Lumerical, RSoft)
  • Ability to collect and analyze large datasets (i.e. experience with JMP, DataConductor or similar data analysis tools)
  • Prior experience with vendor engagements for component procurement is a plus.

• Education requirements
  • Minimum MS in engineering or physics. PhD is preferred.

• Experience requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

For California location:

As an early startup experiencing explosive growth, we offer an extremely attractive total compensation package, inclusive of competitive base salary and a generous grant of our valuable early-stage equity. The target base salary for this role is approximately $170,000.00 - $190,000.00. The base salary offered may be slightly higher or lower than the target base salary, based on the final scope as determined by the depth of the experience and skills demonstrated by candidate in the interviews.
