LOCATION: Oak Ridge, TN
SALARY RANGE: $22.37 to $31.12 an hour
PURPOSE:
Serves as a liaison between employees and managers of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Student Services contract and the corporate human resources function. Provides general guidance to managers and employees on human resources-related matters, ensuring alignment with corporate policies, goals, and objectives. Performs a wide variety of human resources activities to include other projects as needed in Human Resources.
Responsibilities
• Works with Senior Human Resources Business Partners to support employment activities including creating job postings, advertising jobs, reviewing, and routing applications, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and processing applicant information.
• Conducts new employee onboarding, both onsite and virtual.
• Operates in and is responsible for assisting EPA while performing the same activities as the professionals that specializes in these individual Human Resources (HR) functions.
• Partners with EPA to ensure a complete understanding of business needs and objectives and proactively resolves HR issues and provides solutions through organizational effectiveness and employee life cycle.
• Performs other general HR responsibilities as needed. These may include supplemental duties and supporting other HR departments as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, scientific, technical, education or related field and 0-2 years of job-related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience requiring similar knowledge, skills, abilities, and performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
• Knowledge of HR laws and practices required.
• Knowledge of recruitment and hiring practices required.
• Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Must have excellent computer skills.
• Must have excellent communication, coordination, interpersonal, organizational and teamwork skills.
• Must be detailed oriented, flexible, able to meet deadlines, and able to prioritize multiple and competing tasks.
• Exemplary ability to analyze information and provide recommendations is required.
• Previous HR experience, particularly with employment operations is desired.
• Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems is desired.
• Must be able to work onsite in Oak Ridge, TN.
• The candidate’s starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate’s qualifications to determine salary.
