The Role
Ordaōs is looking for a part time Laboratory Manager who will oversee the day-to-day operations and management of our laboratory facilities. This will be an in-person role at our wet lab in SoHo, Manhattan. This role will be responsible for ensuring a productive, efficient, and safe laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will be an organized and detail oriented people-person, have a background in laboratory practices, and a passion for driving scientific excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including scheduling, budgeting, and procurement of supplies.
- Consistent communication with the lab team to ensure that laboratory facilities and resources meet project needs, proactively identifying solutions to unmet needs or problems that may arise.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards in accordance with company policies and governmental regulations.
- Ensuring smooth operation of crucial equipment.
- Working with vendors to ensure adequate supplies are available for routine experimental procedures.
- Digitally tracking inventory ordering and costs for all lab materials.
- Optimizing laboratory processes and workflows to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Maintaining accurate and thorough records of laboratory activities and ensure documentation meets quality standards.
- Coordinating maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment.
- Developing laboratory guidelines and maintaining procedure manuals.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field
- 3+ years of experience in a laboratory setting
- Experience with budgeting, purchasing, and resource management in a laboratory context.
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
- This position requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds as part of the essential job functions.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with Benchling's inventory system
- Experience with laboratory automation and digital tools.
- Familiarity with biologics research and development processes.

Pay range: $35-45 an hour, with expected workload taking around 20 hours per week. This role has the opportunity to become full time in 2025.
