THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT OREGON STATE STUDENTS. This position provides excellent customer service support for the students, staff, faculty and administration of the College of Education and the OSU community. This is a hybrid-position which requires on-site work at the Corvallis campus and potentially other areas around Oregon. The position is based out of Furman Hall in Corvallis. As a part of the Division of Arts and Sciences, we support the division’s campus-wide role in providing a well-rounded, compelling educational experience. Our work seeks to enhance and extend the historic democratic mission of public education: to prepare all citizens, across their lifetime for full participation in a culturally diverse and technical world. This position, as with all positions within the College of Education, is directly responsible for advancing the mission of the College. The College of Education contributes to major national dialogues concerning research and the promotion of social justice in (1) the success of English language learners of all ages; (2) developmentally appropriate pedagogy for all ages; (3) learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics inside and outside of school; (4) the preparation of mental health and school counselors; and (5) adult and higher education leadership. We develop change agents in the form of formal and informal educators, counselors, and leaders. These change agents identify issues and act towards social justice and the full development of human potential and society Position Duties • Conceive, plan, and create written, video and photographic content for the College of Education’s website and social media channels. This may include content for Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn and YouTube. • Work with the Manager of Communications, Communications Department student workers, faculty and staff to research and create content, and assure its accuracy and timeliness. • This position works directly with the Manager of Communications to create campaigns, troubleshoot challenges, and implement solutions as needed. • This position requires strong language skills (written, verbal and on-camera) and the ability to work quickly and creatively. • The position requires a candidate to attend College of Education events as needed. These events may occur throughout the week and some may require work on weekends or during the evening. Project work: • Consult with the Manager of Communications on project requests from other faculty and staff. • Work with the Manager of Communications to create realistic time management strategies for project completion. • Regularly review the College of Education website and social media platforms for compliance with OSU standards. • Work independently, with other student staff, and/or with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks on time. • Have a good working knowledge of photo and video equipment and a demonstrated ability to create compelling photo/video content for social media. • Demonstrate competent working knowledge of other graphic and production software such as Canva and iMovie. • Work with the Manager of Communications to create realistic time management strategies for project completion. • Manage timelines and assess ability to meet deadlines. Other Duties: • Complete any training required by OSU, the College of Education, or the Manager of Communications to satisfactorily complete job duties and employment requirements. • Work with College of Education faculty, staff and students. • Attend special events or training as needed. • Maintain schedules and keep deadlines. • Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term* • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications • Excellent creative writing and verbal skills. • Demonstrated successful work in a team environment. • Demonstrated self-motivation in project management. • Demonstrated organizational skills. • Demonstrated ability and willingness to do detailed repetitive tasks with consistent high quality. • Excellent attention to detail. • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite including Outlook and Teams. Preferred (Special) Qualifications • Interest in learning about the College of Education and representing the College. • Demonstrated positive and proactive attitude. • Able to lift/carry 20 lbs. • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity and social justice. Working Conditions / Work Schedule • A maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms, with the potential for working up to 40 hours during the summer/academic breaks. • Hybrid-schedule, which may include working from home and on-site as needed.
