This is accomplished by providing high-quality career advising and career education to peers; assisting in the coordination of campus programs and events; managing online platforms; strengthening external partnerships with faculty, alumni, employers, parents and the surrounding community via written and verbal communication; and providing excellent customer service to thousands of stakeholders. These activities will take place in an in-person/virtual hybrid format, according to the needs of the OSU community.Through this position, students will develop core competencies that will better prepare them for careers after graduation. These skills include, but are not limited to: communication, critical thinking, teamwork/collaboration, leadership, professionalism, equity and inclusion, & digital technology. Students will also develop expertise in topics directly related to career development, including resume and CV writing, interviewing etiquette, salary negotiation, and more.This recruitment will be used to create a pool of applicants for the College of Engineering Career Assistant position. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year, and qualified applicants will be contacted as positions become available.This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.Position Duties• Provide daily advising to peers on a variety of career development topics• Support planning and implementation of Career Development Center events including career fairs, networking events, employer information sessions, and classes• Manage Handshake and Beaver Hub activity, including responding to student questions, appointment scheduling, and Handshake event pages• Be the first point of contact for all in-person and remote visitors to the COE Career Center and uphold high standards of customer service at all times• Facilitate and lead professional development presentations on behalf of the COE Career Center• Perform all main reception operations including answering phones, email, and handling customer queries and questions• Help to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors to the COE Career Center and visitors to employer and career-focused events, both virtually and in person• Support COE Career Center staff in completing administrative tasks that support the mission of the Center• Assist in hiring and training of new student employees• Attend and participate in regular staff trainingMinimum QualificationsFull Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here:http://fa.oregonstate.edu/stu-manual/500-employment-eligibility-requirements• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard• High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program• Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term• Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*• Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term• Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*• International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
