Burns & McDonnell has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager in the Planning & Policy Department of the Transportation Global Practice. The Department supports multiple Global Practices and working with private sector and public sector clients. This position will have the opportunity to work in the areas of strategic communications, public outreach, stakeholder engagement, and transportation planning and policy.

Job Duties

  • This position leads the management of multiple projects varying in size and complexity, associated with strategic communications, public involvement, outreach, and public policy.
  • Leads engagement/communication project scoping, cost estimating, planning, execution of deliverables and budget tracking.
  • Develops and executes communications and outreach plans with oversight of project deliverables.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget and meet or exceed client expectations. Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
  • Organizes technical and creative staff.
  • Identifies opportunities and provides input and evaluation on major pursuits and projects.
  • Develops new and manages existing client relationships, while interfacing with the client for proposal and project-related items
  • Oversees the training of project teams, coordinate activities of multiple global practices/disciplines, and facilitate the efficient cost-effective utilization of staff while adhering to contractual and performance requirements.
  • Presents to internal and external executive management as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, planning, public relations/political science, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience required, 5 to 10 years of experience in transportation/infrastructure-related field (public involvement/strategic communications, planning, or policy) preferred. Prefer AEC industry experience and a minimum of 2 years of project management experience.
  • This position is located in our Dallas or Austin, TX office.
  • Experience in public speaking, as well as developing and editing content for project deliverables such as factsheets, websites, PowerPoint presentations, high level messaging and branding, scripts, press releases, and technical reports.
  • Experience in managing large events and providing direction to creative staff is preferred.
  • Position will primarily work for our transportation group but could also be involved with projects for other global practices.
