The role

As a GIS QA contractor at Overstory, you will be conducting GIS analysis, primarily reviewing geospatial data for accuracy and quality issues, supporting QA and finalization of customer product data, feeding back on Geospatial related bugs and customer issues and collaborating with the engineering team on GIS features and implementation.

In detail

You’ll spend most of your time working in QGIS, PostgreSQL database, and our own product to conduct QA on the various different layers of data which make up our deliveries. You will work on multiple datasets in parallel, switching between them as you get blocked and ensuring the relevant stakeholders are kept updated. You’ll be working as part of the Manual Test Delivery Team, and will attend regular standup meetings.

Skills

  • You are comfortable working with PostgreSQL/SQL.
  • You are familiar with GitHub, and tools such as Slack, Notion, Google Suite. 
  • Your written and verbal English communications skills are excellent, and you have empathy and understanding of different roles in the company. 
  • You manage your own time effectively, across multiple projects and occasionally under pressure, able to prioritize short and long term activities with a strategic approach. 
  • You are creative and curious and have strong attention to detail. You are well-organized, keeping many files in the right places and clear documentation up-to-date.  
  • You can talk to software engineers and data engineers. Teamwork is at your core.
  • You have an eye for quality, your work is thorough, and you pay attention to both the small details and the larger picture.
  • You are flexible and ready and able to learn new things, and able to quickly adapt to new working practices and technologies.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with GIS data in public or private utility.
  • Experience with Geospatial software such as QGIS.
  • QA experience
  • Knowledge about electric utilities
  • Experience in a remote team

About you

  • You are fluent in English.
  • You have at least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Teamwork is at your core, and you like to help others grow and succeed
  • Ideally, you’re in a time zone +/- 1 hour from CET

Contract

  • 40 hours per week - full time
  • For a period of 12 weeks to start with

About our team

We are a group of 62 people from all over the world. Fifteen nationalities are represented in our team. We work remotely from nine different countries and we are looking for candidates that are also living and working in one of these countries: the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Estonia, Portugal, Spain, France, and Sweden.
