General Counsel
Ownwell, a property cost reduction company, is looking for an experienced General Counsel to oversee all legal matters and provide strategic guidance to the executive team. The General Counsel will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and managing risk.
Skills
- Juris Doctor degree
- At least 10 years of legal experience
- Expertise in contracts, compliance, litigation, intellectual property, corporate governance, and employment law
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement legal strategy
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Advise on legal implications of business decisions
- Draft, review, and manage contracts and agreements
- Identify and mitigate legal risks
- Manage litigation and dispute resolution matters
- Advise on corporate governance issues
- Protect and enforce intellectual property rights
- Be a thought partner to the business
- Research risks associated with new product development
Education
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar
