Work Schedule: Our office teams have transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office an average of three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding any changes to our hybrid schedule will be communicated.

What you will be doing:
Responsible for overseeing global structural packaging identification, and development, for all global packaging projects leading testing and implementation for Home & Outdoor packaged products. As part of the Marketing function, this position will work closely with a cross-functional global team, especially Packaging Design, Product Development, Product Engineering, Operations, and Quality across the Home & Outdoor Division.
  • Maintain alignment and collaboration with business stakeholders, leveraging their experience and connections to suppliers to assist with packaging solution efforts
  • Create internal packaging structure designs for corrugate, folding board cartons and interiors, and plastic clamshells and blister packs. Provide guidance on substrate and coating specs for printing. Use standard processes to achieve the most cost-effective and efficient design to realize all functions and features and deliver on consumer, customer, and sustainability expectations
  • Responsible for handling domestic testing related to packaging such as transportation, drop, stacking, vibration, compression testing, etc.
  • Develop a short- and long-term assessment of the current Home and Outdoor packaging structure process and identify areas of improvement across efficiency and sustainability.
  • Establish and maintain packaging structure design guidelines, specifications, acceptance criteria, and testing methods
  • Work with Packaging Design and Product Development team to integrate structure and artwork into finished packaging. Provide information on materiality and specs to packaging suppliers for intended packaging
  • Create packaging related documentation and data sheets as needed and maintain a database of Bill of Materials packaging specifications
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
  • Manage numerous projects and remain flexible and adaptable
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate concise, accurate status updates on projects
  • Understanding of packaging sustainability standard processes and applications
  • Solve issues that arise from package development
  • Work autonomously with limited direction
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering, engineering, industrial design, material science or related field
  • 4+ years’ structural packaging design-related experience within consumer-packaged hard goods / soft goods (durables)
  • Must possess 3D CAD skills necessary for Packaging design. Be well versed in all the 3D conversions between the most popular 3D software: Creo / ArtiosCAD / CAPE / TOPS / Solidworks
  • A solid understanding and background working with plastic and paper-based material with expertise in paperboard, blister, thermoform, and distribution packaging
  • Understanding of graphics packaging print processes
  • Solid understanding of trailer, shipping container, and pallet loading, ASTM, ISTA package testing standards, and Amazon SIOC requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent program management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Portfolio of work demonstrating package engineering experience from consumer-packaged hard goods /soft goods (durables).

In California, Colorado, and New York City, the standard base pay range for this role is $70,287.23 -$117,280.97 annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
