Packaging Operator (SACB)

We are currently hiring a Packaging Operator in Cincinnati, OH .

The Packaging Operator will be cross trained in several areas of the Packaging Department and will become familiar with all equipment in their daily designated area of work.

What You'll Brew:

  • Must be able to work in and promote a team oriented and “Safety First” environment. Safely, efficiently and effectively work to attain department and brewery goals and objectives.
  • Must observe and practice all Department/Brewery Procedures. Including; wearing proper PPE, including respirators and all safety and sanitation equipment as required and follow all GMP guidelines.
  • Safety and efficiently operate Packaging Department equipment/machinery as assigned to meet department/brewery goals. Including but not limited to; Filler, Labeler, Box maker, etc.
  • Must be receptive to working in a team environment and maintain positive working relationships with others. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and make recommendations to process.
  • Conduct proper sanitation duties. Involves the complete cleaning of all the equipment within the facility. Foaming equipment, hoses, brooms, shovels, brushes, scrapers, squeegees and numerous chemicals are necessary to sanitize the designated site.
  • Read and operate computers and automated equipment and input data as required.
  • Communicate with coworkers, face to face, Brewery phones, and radio. Must carry radio as required • Operate forklifts as required.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing methodologies in daily standard work to drive improvements in safety, quality, and overall line performance.
  • Work autonomously to perform operational, cleaning, inspection, and minor lubrication tasks as required.
  • Follow best practices such as equipment centerlining, visualization, and 6S.
  • Perform work and cleaning in confined space areas such as the Pasteurizer.
  • Perform Quality checks, testing, and complete paperwork as required.
  • Conduct equipment and product changeovers, using tools as needed.
  • Assist other operators and departments in training, repair work and equipment operation as needed.
  • Assist with supporting overtime as needed to cover varying production needs. May include 12-hour days, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
  • Must practice safe work methods and comply with wearing and using the proper PPE 100% of the time on the floor and always work in a safe manner.

Physical Requirements

  • All production roles are required to pass a pre-employment physical exam to comply with their specific role requirement(s)
  • Certain roles may require the use of a respirator and passing the associated fit test
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, sometimes repeatedly
  • Regular walking and standing for long periods of time (up to 11 hours a day) on concrete, metal and grated surfaces
  • Responsibilities may require crouching, stepping over, crawling under, bending, twisting, climbing and reaching above head and shoulders repeatedly throughout the day
  • Responsibilities may require climbing flights of stairs, working from heights or on elevated platforms
  • Ability to wear assigned PPE (safety shoes, gloves, facemask, hearing protection and hard hat)
  • Established dexterity so you can handle materials, operate equipment and interface with computer systems with precision
  • Some roles (e.g., forklift operator) may be required to sit for a prolonged period of time and have strong peripheral vision and depth perception
  • Responsibilities may require crouching, bending, twisting, climbing, reaching, reaching above head and shoulders repeatedly throughout the day
  • While performing the duties of this role, it may be required to climb flights of stairs, work from height or on elevated platforms*
  • Agile enough to step over, crouch over or crawl under
  • Be able to stand, twist, and bend as required for 90% of work schedule

Working Conditions

  • Subject to loud and constant noise
  • Non-environmentally conditioned spaces which may lead to extreme hot and cold
  • Operating environment is complex and densely populated with production equipment and forklifts that necessitates high situational awareness
  • Work overtime as needed which may require 12-hour days, weekends, and holidays
  • Tolerate summer/winter temperature conditions and hot and cold room environments
  • Must work and clean in confined space areas such as tanks and vessels.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
  • Self-starter, proactive.
  • Proficient with Computer systems and automated equipment. Must be able to learn and accurately utilize company systems; operate computers and automated equipment and input data as required.
  • Must be able to work assigned shifts as needed
