McCain Food’s facility in Burley, Idaho is a large-scale food processing plant, employing approximately 700 employees. This site specializes in the production of frozen potato products. Fun Fact: 1 in 4 French fries are produced by McCain Foods.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for performing all equipment and general operator functions within the Packaging Area. When specific operator functions are not assigned, incumbent is responsible for ensuring all assigned factory equipment and work areas are continuously clean and sanitary.

Key Responsibilities*:
Packaging Line Operation

  • Responsible for insuring that quality products are packaged efficiently while meeting quality specifications for the packaging of products.
  • Responsible for the efficient use of packaging supplies and equipment.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures for maintenance, quality control, sanitation, line production, supervision, safety, supplies control and line operator reports

Shaker Room

  • Monitor quality of product exiting the freeze tunnels as well as bulked product being added back. Insures that all product meets appropriate quality specifications. Quality attributes which will be monitored including but not limited to: finished product temperature, finished product defect levels, sizing and color attributes, texture or solids, carbon and foreign material. Other attribute measures may be requested as deemed necessary by management.
  • Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to assure a quality operation.
  • Sets up and monitors shaker/grader equipment to insure proper sizing distribution.

General Clean-up and Sanitation

  • Clean and sanitize equipment and areas assigned per established procedure.
  • Use appropriate cleaning materials and chemicals to perform sanitation requirements.
  • Remove potato and other waste from equipment, machinery and work areas.

General Duty Requirements

  • Accurately completes required records and reports.
  • Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to insure a quality operation.
  • Promotes and adheres to company safety regulations

Qualifications*:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write simple correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Must have ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Required to complete certification through the Operator Training Program.

Physical Demand:
Constant: standing on regularly scheduled shift and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently: Walk, use of hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear.
Occasionally: Sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Employees must obtain assistance, either mechanically or from another individual, when lifting over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
