The Gist

Leads, coaches, and motivates the assigned packaging shift to ensure scheduled production is completed in a safe and cost effective manner, while maintaining the quality of the beer.

What You’ll Do

• Ensures team adheres to all the safety regulations of the organization.
• Leads the investigation for any safety incidents or near-misses that occur on shift within the next working day and executes/assists in the action items to prevent reoccurrence.
• Meets with direct reports monthly to discuss their performance and areas of growth/development.
• Collaborates with direct reports to document a training plan for each employee and helps execute the plan.
• Ensures that quality regulations of the organization (GMP, Micro, etc.) are met on a daily basis.
• Leads the investigation of any quality hold on their shift and executes/assists in the action items to prevent reoccurrence.
• Adheres to the packaging schedule to ensure that orders are met, but also maintains the flexibility to react and make decisions that best benefit the business should unexpected situations arise (equipment breakdown, beer outage, material shortage, etc.).
• Documents and tracks the service metrics of their shift (line/machine efficiencies) and can identify the top 3 opportunities to improve performance.
• Documents and tracks the waste metrics on their shift (beer loss, material loss, etc.) and investigates when a trigger is hit.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

What We’re Lookin’ For

• Bachelors’ Degree preferred, but not required, preferably in the field of operational leadership, engineering, or similar fields.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrates the ability to lead/manage teams, including recognizing great performance, and having developmental conversations when needed to address poor performance.
• Works well with peers (brewing, quality, etc.) and demonstrates the ability to see the big picture.
• Experience in leading structured problem solving.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and quick on feet to make beneficial decisions efficiently.
• Knowledge in the fundamentals of maintenance/asset care preferred.

Key Relationships

• Reports to Packaging Manager.
• Frequently interacts with the Quality, Brewing and Packaging departments

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator
• Work environment is indoors or in production environment
• Ability to climb ladders up to 50 feet
• Ability to crawl, bend, twist, turn, and stoop
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
