McCain Food’s facility in Plover, Wisconsin is a food processing plant, employing approximately 270 employees. This site specializes in the production of cheese curds and other specialty appetizers. Fun Fact: The Plover facility makes appetizers for Burger King, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Arby’s, just to name a few!


Position Summary:
The responsibility is to be the primary problem solver related to mechanical, programming, and packaging operational processes. The Packaging Technical Lead will be responsible for increasing employee’s versatility and expertise through hands-on training, coaching, and support. Assists in the development, coordination, and delivery of department training.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide training, guidance, and direction to packaging employees to maximize the operator’s development and utilization of their skillsets through the continuous improvement concept.
  • Partner with maintenance and operators to identify and resolve equipment related issues, improve equipment efficiencies, and assist in the rollout of new equipment.
  • Guide operators in making necessary equipment adjustments and equipment re-configurations to maximize efficiency and performance of equipment.
  • Provide recommendations and support for improving operational capabilities to all departments.
  • Assist with the development and training of new processes implemented in production.
  • Establish training aids (i.e., troubleshooting tools and one-point lessons) and track progress to ensure consistency among operators.
  • Ensure that operator requirements and trainings are consistent on all operating shifts and conduct certification/re-certification training with the assistance of the training department of SME.
  • Assist in coordinating the orientation and training of new employees in appropriate manufacturing processes.
  • Engage packaging team members in following- Process Daily Management Systems and McCain Driving Impacts.
  • Ensure the line set-up and beginning operations are in accordance to Process Center Lines (PCL), in tandem with, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and product design (Routing), including equipment, process, materials and crewing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform and direct others on how to conduct measurements and tests as assigned to determine key metrics data. Initiate or engage operators in adjustments (equipment alignment, speeds, pressures, etc.) as necessary to maintain process center lines.
  • Maintain proficiency in all current data systems.
  • Follow proper GMP and safety guidelines.
  • Other Duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of packaging equipment and processes and minimum two years of operating experience.
  • Must maintain good attendance to support operational and training needs.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions both written and oral as well as read and interpret schedules related to production/ product schedules and line changeovers.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in Basic English and interact with all levels of the organization. Must be able to enter data into a computer.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per shift, ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work and train on all operating shifts, including nights and weekends.


Physical Demand:
Constant: use and movement of hands and standing on regularly scheduled shift.
Frequently: Bending, grasping of hands, and reaching for up to 3 -6 hours daily.
Occasionally: Walking, bending at the waist, squatting, kneeling, and twisting at the neck and waist, pushing and pulling for up to 3 hours a day.
