Product Designer (Design Systems) (3 Month Contract)

What do we do?

Paddle offers SaaS companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.

We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 3000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.

The Role:

At Paddle, we’re committed to delivering exceptional user experiences across our digital products. Our design team is building a robust design system to scale our impact and create consistency across our product suite. We’re looking for a skilled Design Systems Designer to join us as a contractor and help bring this vision to life.

As a Design Systems Designer, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and evolving our design system. You’ll collaborate with designers, developers, and product managers to create accessible, scalable, and cohesive components that empower product teams to deliver exceptional interfaces efficiently.

What you'll do:

  • Design System Development: Define, design, and test core components, patterns, and guidelines to establish a scalable and cohesive product design framework.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with designers, developers, and product managers to align on functionality, accessibility, and implementation.

  • Documentation: Create clear, concise documentation to guide design system adoption and usage.

  • Iterative Improvement: Gather feedback from stakeholders to refine and expand the design system as needed.

  • Accessibility: Ensure components meet accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.1, incorporating tools like ARIA roles or Axe.

  • Scalability: Build for flexibility to support the evolving needs of our product suite.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience: Proven experience in UX/UI design, with a focus on design systems or component libraries.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced Figma skills, with familiarity in front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (React knowledge is a bonus).

  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for clean, reusable, and scalable design.

  • Communication: Strong ability to articulate design decisions and collaborate with technical and non-technical teams alike.

  • Problem-Solving: Confidence in addressing challenges in implementing design systems at scale.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to evolving priorities.

  • Tools Knowledge: Experience with design tokens and tools like Storybook is a plus.
