Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, a large international law firm, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to be based out of our San Diego office. This position will be part of our team of attorneys, paralegals and support staff providing a high level of service to both internal and external clients. Under the supervision and direction of attorneys, the Litigation Paralegal will provide support for all types of litigation matters, including arbitration, California Superior Court and Federal District Court litigation. The paralegal will operate as part of a team of attorneys and support staff to provide a high level of service to both internal and external clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Organize, index and oversee maintenance of all file documents.
  • Initiate and maintain docketing within Firm’s CompuLaw system and monitor/maintain case and trial calendars.
  • Implement and utilize case management tools necessary to manage cases (Trial Director, Relativity, Accellion Kiteworks, Live Note, VLC Media Player etc.)
  • Conduct online searches as requested, including Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, Pacer and other online court register of actions and dockets.
  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, subpoenas, and other discovery documents.
  • Assist in deposition preparation.
  • Provide support for all aspects of arbitration and trial, including but not limited to, use of electronic legal case management software (such as Case Anywhere), manage electronic filings in California and Federal District courts, coordinate with legal service vendors, clients, witnesses and expert witnesses.
  • Attend arbitrations, trials, depositions, and other hearings as may be required.
  • Summarize testimony, documents, and evidentiary objections; draft and maintain exhibit lists, and prepare arbitration, hearing and trial electronic binders and notebooks.
  • Manage document production processes, including performing document production reviews, manage electronic document productions and databases (producing and receiving), preparing arbitration and trial document productions, creating privilege logs and electronic discovery logs.
  • Draft client status reports.
  • Manage other litigation support resources that may be assigned to the matter.
  • Proofread documents with a high level of accuracy.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience; Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a professional environment which includes progressive responsibility in managing arbitration and litigation matters in California state court and Federal District Court.
  • High level of proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat / Kofax PDF, Litigation Support Applications (e.g. Trial Director, Relativity, Accellion Kiteworks, Live Note, VLC Media Player), Pacer, Electronic Filing, legal case management software (such as Case Anywhere), Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw and other internet research tools.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Respectful, reliable and dependable team player.
  • Must be proactive and a good planner who is very detail-oriented with the ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, taking initiative to move projects to conclusion.
  • Display a strong client service orientation with a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
  • Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions.
  • Travel will be required.

This is a full-time, regular position with a multi-faceted health benefit package including medical, dental and vision. The firm also offers life insurance, short-term disability plans and retirement plans in addition to holidays and paid time off. The firm offers hybrid work schedules combining in office work days as well as remote work days. The pay range for this position in California only is $51.28- $65.54 per hour.
