Position Summary:

The Risk and Fraud Analyst plays a crucial role in identifying and mitigating potential risks and fraudulent activities within Pax8's Marketplace. They are responsible for analyzing data, investigating suspicious activities, and implementing measures to prevent and detect fraud.The Analyst is responsible for daily activities related to the proactive monitoring and remediation of security and fraud events through usage-based anomalies in partner and end-customer environments. Please note that occasional weekend or off-hours work will be required. They use internal tools and vendor tools to surface indicators that are correlated with a security compromise or an inadvertent configuration error by partners and customers. The Analyst assists with developing and maintaining processes to provide telemetry data to correlate partner creditworthiness, account balance, new orders, and arrears usage to measure the risk of ongoing commercial transactions. They play a vital role in protecting Pax8 from financial losses and reputational damage due to fraud. The Analyst's work helps ensure compliance with regulations, enhances operational efficiency, and maintains the trust of our Partners, Vendors, and stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Daily monitor indicators within our Vendor environments, that are associated with threat actor behavior; daily monitor overall arrears-billed consumption for anomalous usage which may be related to a security compromise or partner/customer misconfiguration.
  • Utilize data analysis techniques and fraud detection tools to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that may indicate fraudulent activities. Monitor transactions, accounts, and customer behavior to detect and prevent fraudulent actions.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of potential risks and vulnerabilities within Pax8's processes, systems, and operations. Identify areas of concern and develop strategies to minimize risk exposure.
  • Monitor and respond to email alerts from Pax8 Vendors in relation to potential security incidents.
  • Investigate anomalies via the Pax8 platform and directly in the Azure and AWS consoles. Providing time-sensitive triage analysis of usage indicators and root causes to recommend actionable remediation.
  • Conduct investigations into suspected fraudulent activities. Gather and analyze evidence, communicate with relevant parties, and collaborate with internal sales, partners, and service desk stakeholders Prepare comprehensive reports documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with your team on commonalities seen in the incidents, emerging threat actor tactics/techniques/procedures, and recommended application of prevention/detection measures.
  • Assist with the development of telemetry, via the use of SQL, spreadsheet analysis, and vendor-provided tools and data, to match partner creditworthiness to orders, usage, spending, and account balance.
  • Analyze partner and customer spending relative to their perceived risk and creditworthiness; provide analysis to stakeholders in sales, finance, legal, and operations for their action.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry fraud prevention and risk management standards. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external requirements, such as anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations.

Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential to analyze complex data, identify patterns, and detect potential fraud risks. Proficiency in data analysis tools, statistical software, and Excel is often required.
  • Experience in working in Azure Partner Center, Azure console, and AWS console for investigation of security and usage anomalies
  • Experience in incident response related to cloud account compromise.
  • A solid understanding of fraud prevention techniques, risk management principles, and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act)
  • A keen eye for detail is crucial in detecting and investigating fraudulent activities. The ability to meticulously review and analyze large amounts of data is essential.
  • Ability to manage remediation, forensics collection, and resolution of security incidents
  • Experience in using SQL and ability to build reports in Excel; ability to develop scripts in Python or similar language.
  • High ethical standards and integrity are critical for handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality throughout investigations.

Required Education & Certifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Relevant security certifications for Azure, AWS, etc.

Compensation:

  • Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $76,000 or more depending on experience

  • Note: Compensation is benchmarked on local Denver Metro area market rates. Qualified candidates in other locations can expect a salary package that may be adjusted based off applicable cost of wages in their respective location.
