Job Overview:
Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a remote Patient Access Insurance Coordinator reporting into our Headquarters location.

The Patient Access Insurance Coordinator will determine the status of a patient’s insurance eligibility/coverage by contacting the appropriate insurance or third party payor in accordance with SHC policies and procedures, for assigned facilities, and may also be called upon to assist assigned facilities with resolving their patient access edits in the bill scrubber. The Patient Access Insurance Coordinator will exhibit a thorough knowledge and understanding of Commercial, Managed Care, Medicaid, Managed Medicaid and Medicare payor guidelines and eligibility criteria.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include performing insurance verifications and authorizations for assigned Shriners facilities and performing bill hold review for assigned facilities;

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience with insurance verification, authorization, medical billing and utilization. Experience working as a Verifier in an acute care hospital, physician practice or other healthcare setting is preferred. High School Degree/GED is required for this role. Key skills to be successful in this role include strong analytical and problem solving skills, strong communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office.
