Patient Care Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for a Patient Care Assistant to join our team here at Silverton Vets!

This is a permanent full time role working 40 hours per week, which includes being on the rota for dispensary work. 1:2 Saturdays required with the following Monday off. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone wanting to gain experience in the veterinary industry that could lead to Student Veterinary Nurse training in the future.

The PCA role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, as a PCA you would be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients, working alongside a lovely team of people. This role will involve animal handling, assisting vets and nurses in restraining animals for treatment, cleaning, walking and feeding patients, general cleaning and maintenance duties, answering phone calls, reception cover, greeting clients and providing the highest standards of animal and customer care.

We are looking for someone who really cares about animals. Our ideal candidate will have had some experience with animals before, have excellent interpersonal skills and be a real team player.

Qualifications needed:

• Five GCSEs at grade C and above (or equivalent), which must include English language, maths and a science subject.

OR

• An animal nursing assistant (ANA) or veterinary care assistant (VCA) qualification, along with functional skills level two in application of number and communication.

The salary for this position will be in line with National Minimum Wage +3% cost of living increase.
