About The Role

Pawp is expanding our Veterinary Operations team and hiring multiple Veterinary Nurses. As a Veterinary Nurse at Pawp, you will play a crucial role in the care we provide to our members. You will provide tele-triage and tele-advice to our nationwide member base who have questions or concerns about their cats and dogs.

Tele-triage involves using technology to communicate with licensed veterinary professionals to assess whether a pet’s condition is urgent or can wait for an appointment the next business day. While you won’t diagnose, treat, or prescribe medication (as a Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationsip (VCPR) cannot be established through these means), you will help convey urgency and guide members.
Tele-advice involves sharing educational insight based on your knowledge and experience as a licensed veterinary professional. All consultations conducted through the Pawp platform, equippedd with video and chat capabilities.

Please note: This role is a 1099 contract position (remote/work from home) with a minimum availability requirement of 10 hours per week for the month of September and a minimum commitment of 10 hours per month from October onwards. The hourly rate for this position is USD $24/hour. Hours and schedules may be subject to change based on the needs of the position.

Schedules will be established by shifts. Shift schedule preferences will be based on availability.

Your role:

Conduct remote consultations (via chat and video) with Pawp members to provide advice, education, and support for their pets. Your daily tasks will include accepting, consulting, and closing out inbound chats and video calls.
Obtain patient history during consultations and gather triage information to provide appropriate guidance for treatment plans and follow-up care.
Offer timely navigation to physical care, especially in emergency situations.
Empower pet parents by sharing educational insights, articles, and resources to help them better understand their pet’s condition or issue.
Recommend supplements or other over-the-counter items that may benefit the pet when appropriate.
Suggest potential home care options and timeframes for further evaluation appointments.
Promote the importance of preventative care to pet parents.
Help pet parents make informed decisions for their pets.

What you'll need:

An active certification or license in the US (CVT/LVT/RVT).
Minimum 5+ years of relevant clinical experience in a small animal practice with some ER/triage experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Enthusiasm for continuous learning and keeping your medical knowledge current.
Ability to empathize and provide compassionate care to a diverse demographic of pet parents.
Experience with e-consultations or tele-health is a plus but not mandatory.
Ability to speak a second language other than English is a plus.
Team player who maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees and promotes a collaborative working environment.
