Payroll Administrator

TGS provides scientific data and intelligence to companies active in the energy sector. In addition to a global, extensive and diverse energy data library, TGS offers specialized services such as advanced processing and analytics alongside cloud-based data applications and solutions.
As a part of a global HR Team, The Payroll Administrator serves as a primary point of contact for employee requests related to payroll related matters providing quality and timely solutions. Responsible for completing multiple full life-cycle payrolls including US bi-weekly and monthly international payroll processes. Works closely with HR to ensure all employee updates are successfully incorporated into the payroll process.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates payroll requirements to ensure accurate payment and deductions to employees in addition to providing documentation to finance for related costs.
  • Provides employee service function by guiding employees through timekeeping inquiries and questions related to pay. Serves as the primary contact to management for all payroll related matters.
  • Has an active role in ensuring payroll functions remain compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Updates and maintains payroll data including but not limited to adding new hires, terminations, bonuses, leaves of absence (LOA), direct deposits, wage assignments and garnishments, time-off entitlements, tax changes, management of all general deductions, benefits and accumulators, off-cycle, and special check runs.
  • Conducts periodic audits of required filings and pay elements. Provides recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Assists in developing and updating payroll and time keeping policies. Creates training materials related to new or updated polices/processes/procedures.
  • Tracks federal, state, and local taxes filings; is knowledgeable of legal requirements and upholds all compliance regulations for federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
  • Responsible for all payroll related audit and compliance activity including the quarterly and annual financial statement audits, internal audit team requests, requests from federal, state, and local tax authorities, 401K and worker's compensation audits, unemployment claims and other internal and external data and reporting requests.
  • Creates and runs various payroll reports needed by other parts of the business and 3rd party vendors upon request.
  • Participates in special projects as needed.
Job Requirements (Education and Experience):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field from an accredited university.
  • 3-5 years of payroll processing experience supporting large teams.
  • CPP certification is a plus.
  • Strong experience and detailed knowledge of payroll theory, principals, and operations plus basic knowledge of accounting theory.
  • Able to maintain, develop and implement internal controls to ensure data integrity in systems and files.
  • Ability to document activities and processes in an accurate and complete manner, for future reference and record retention.
  • Maintains relevant information related to pay, benefit and labor related legislation to apply knowledge to current activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience with Oracle or Workday preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with drive for results.
  • Be flexible regarding work hours when workload requires an extra effort.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Capable of building professional relationships and rapport with all levels of employees.
  • Strong service delivery. Questions the norm and looks for opportunities to improve service delivery and efficiency.
