The Opportunity at Komodo Health

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Payroll Manager will support all payroll functions for Komodo Health and its subsidiaries, assisting in running day to day payroll operations and generation of employees' year-end earnings statements. The ideal candidate is experienced in US payroll and tax laws at the Federal and State levels and has a passion for creating innovative payroll solutions. This position will foster relationships and work collaboratively with other organizational teams. This role allows for you to sit 100% remote (work from home).

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have…

  • Owned payroll-related tasks and responsibilities for both Komodo, including payroll consolidations.
  • Executed accurate and timely payroll operations and related activities that ensure compliance with the laws of various U.S. jurisdictions for a fast-growing employee base.
  • Performed payroll analyses such as reconciliations of payroll to the general ledger, reconciliation of current to prior payroll, total gross payroll to net payment, and average compensation per employee, among others.
  • Overseen and responded to employee inquiries and served as liaison between employees and third-party providers; educated and counseled employees on how to use the Company's payroll-related self-service tools.
  • Work with internal partners in People Operations/Recruiting/Finance/Legal to facilitate and help improve the payroll processes, including benefits, withholdings, and the related company contributions (e.g., leave of absence, employee benefits, 401K, HSA, FSA, etc.)
  • Support external financial and payroll-related audits e.g., 401(k), worker's compensation, EDD, ESD, etc.
  • Assist with state registrations for payroll purposes.

What You Bring to Komodo

  • Proven expertise in end-to-end payroll processing, including companies with 500+ employees.
  • Experience with payroll systems including Paylocity, ADP Workforce Now, and advanced Excel (Pivot Tables and v-lookup).
  • Experience with Workday is a huge plus (not required)
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and best practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll-related state, legal, tax, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proactive and a high-energy individual geared towards achieving continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure; dependable with deliverable deadlines and ability to multitask.
  • Self-motivated, confident, good judgment, energy and personality to work in a fast-paced environment across all levels of management, functions, and geographies
