Who You Are::
Serve as key member of the payroll management team to ensure highest level of client satisfaction and customer service culture. Key resource for managing overall team accuracy, timeliness, and completion of input, processing, and packaging of all client payrolls. Respond to escalated client inquiries on payroll processing issues and maintains filing of employee and client data requirements. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, advising management on needed actions. Systemically build on a customer-centric service strategy to deliver highly effective business processes and technology capabilities required to deliver an optimal customer service.
What You'll Do::
  • Supervise Payroll Services staff members including performance management and delegation of duties.
  • Manage the team’s overall accuracy and timeliness of clients’ payroll processing.
  • Measure productivity of resources, set business performance improvement targets, and establish plans to achieve ideal productivity and accuracy standards.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for Payroll Services Associates.
  • Continuously report on productivity, accuracy, and client satisfaction metrics to the Vice President.
  • Assist in the strategic development and formalization of enhanced, repeatable, and optimized processes, procedures and standards that effect both internal & external clients in conjunction with upper management.
  • Enhance and / or establish departmental training plans according to company objectives. Identify skill gaps and establish learning paths for existing team members.
  • Structure regular team meetings, set priorities, and focus team’s efforts daily.
  • Act as an empowered project manager to concierge team initiatives.
  • Ensure accuracy of workflow and effective communication of clients’ expectations and needs.
  • Facilitate positive client experience by maintaining professional relationships between the team and other internal departments.
  • Ensure preciseness of computations, statutory withholdings, voluntary deductions, and overall employee payroll records.
  • Review and approve compliance and effectiveness of payroll audit controls.
  • Act as a liaison to external payroll services provider and retirement services provider to troubleshoot and resolve pending issues.
  • Partner with Technology Services Group to develop solutions and improvements to the HR/Payroll system for business and end-user needs.
  • Test and implement payroll system enhancements and modifications.
  • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll.
  • Oversee and add additional billing items as needed.
What You Bring::

Education

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Formal study in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or similar discipline highly desirable.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) highly preferred.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a multi-state and multi-client payroll processing environment (ADP, Paychex, etc.). PEO experience is a plus.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience managing and leading a team of payroll professionals.
  • Experience in fast paced customer service-oriented environment highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high levels of task completion and demands.
  • Proven ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and payroll processing software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communicator in writing and verbally in formal and informal business settings.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Team player, results-focused, strong work ethic.
  • Must be enthusiastic and customer-service driven.
  • High ethical standards.
