Job Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for administering the daily operations of the Charleston, South Carolina Volvo Plant, and other US Volvo hourly payrolls. Thus ensuring all employees are paid accurately and timely for services performed in accordance with IRS, Federal, State guidelines and company policies.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Manage daily activities of the payroll function for Volvo US Operations, Inc. and other Volvo companies as needed
- Control the receipt and timely processing of the payroll information which includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Processing weekly and bi-weekly hourly payrolls with the goal of zero preventable errors
- New hire setup review in conjunction with the HRIS administrator
- Rate Change review
- Benefit Deduction audit/review for accuracy
- Union Dues audit/payment processing to applicable agency
- Disability Payments, including, but not limited to 3rd Party Sick pay
- Wage Garnishment entry and distribution review
- Terminations/Final pay
- Communicate payroll policies & procedures to employees
- Liaise between ADP, Finance and HR
- Facilitate the reconciliation of unclaimed property as it relates to state escheat laws
- Monitor, review and make recommended changes for ADP Data Import processes and procedures (eTime or Kronos systems)
- Assist the accounting area with matters pertaining to bank transfers, taxes, stock transactions, company cars, accounts payable, relocations, budgets, and audits, when required
- Interface with internal/external auditors to ensure ongoing SOX compliance
- Issue Off Cycle/Manual Checks as needed
Job Specifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years of experience within a Payroll or similar department.
- ADP Work Force Now systems experience is required
- ADP eTime or Kronos experience with General Maintenance/Schedule Set-up is required
- Experience with mass payroll processing include Shift differentials
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Strong customer focus and motivation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Strong team player, ability to work with people at all levels.
- APA Certification preferred, but not required
