What We're Looking For:

2U is looking for an innovative People Process Designer to plan, analyze, design, optimize, document and implement employee experiences. This role sits within the Global HR Shared Services team and is part of People Operations. In this role you are an expert in experience and process design, project management, teamwork and collaboration, and design thinking.


You will work across the People Team to ensure optimal processes result in excellent experiences for 2U employees when they are interacting with HR. You will document processes and ensure they are reviewed and maintained regularly. You will encourage optimization of people processes including sharing your working knowledge of automation opportunities, leveraging employee feedback, or tapping into other organizational resources and tools. This role is responsible for convening cross-functional teams to ensure continuity, consumer-centric thinking, and scalability of process.


Key Role and Responsibilities:


Process Analysis and Design:

  • Analyze existing HR processes and identify areas for improvement, standardization, and automation.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of HR processes.

Process Optimization and Automation:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate HR processes using technology and tools.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to leverage HR systems, workflow automation, and self-service capabilities to improve process efficiency.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance speed, accuracy, and user-friendliness.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with HR specialists, HR Business Partners, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and pain points in HR processes and collaborate with them to understand process requirements and define process objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process alignment with business requirements and strategies.

Documentation and Communication:

  • Develop comprehensive process documentation, including process flows, standard operating procedures, and process guidelines.
  • Ensure documentation is up-to-date, accessible, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Communicate process changes, updates, and improvements to relevant stakeholders effectively.

Change Management:

  • Support change management initiatives related to HR process improvements, including communication plans, training materials, and user adoption strategies.
  • Engage with employees and managers to create awareness and understanding of new processes and systems.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure HR processes comply with relevant employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to assess and mitigate risks associated with HR processes.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
  • 3+ years' experience in HR, management consulting, data analytics, project management or other related business experience
  • 2+ years of bringing people together to collaborate successfully
  • Ability to gather and use data to inform decision-making and persuade others
  • Strong problem-structuring and problem-solving ability
  • Specific experience with design thinking, journey mapping, use of personas, process design and/or user experience highly desirable
  • Strong Google Workspace skills
  • Proven ability to foster innovation in an atmosphere of mutual respect

While this position is open to remote candidates across the U.S., we will prioritize those who live in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and who are available to come into our Headquarters in Lanham, MD two days a week.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is ($80,000k -$85,000k), with potential bonus eligibility. Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, budget for the position and cost of labor in the market in which the candidate will be hired.
