Responsibilities We are seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to architect, engineer and operate the SQL Database Platform as a Service offerings in support of a Hybrid Cloud datacenter... Location: Onsite in Kansas City, Missouri; Quantico MCB, VA; Camp Lejeune, NC What you will do: As a Senior SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for planning, engineering, operating, maintaining, and problem resolution of the SQL Database Platform as a Service capabilities. You will also work with associated hybrid cloud datacenter infrastructure and teams: virtualization; backup/storage; operating systems management; networking; and management, monitoring and automation tools. You will support system operations, hardening, migration capabilities, customer interaction and support, and patching. You will also be involved in planning and executing cloud migration and operations activities. The Hybrid Cloud Systems program operates and provides cybersecurity services to support the USMC application hosting environment. The team also provides engineering and implementation services to deploy and operate the on-prem, hybrid-cloud and cloud datacenter environments. This is an opportunity to shape the way the USMC achieves its goals to provide enterprise application hosting while ensuring daily support and secure operations for a world-wide warfighter community. Your responsibilities will include: • Administer SQL Platform as a Service hosting environment (including SQL virtualized databases). • Create, administer, manage and operate SQL Platform as a Service offerings in on prem, hybrid and cloud native environments such as Azure, AWS • Monitor, triage, response to events, incidents, tasks, changes including working ticket queues and executing approved Data Center projects and activities across the SQL service area. • Monitor, execute and troubleshoot backup/restore • Implement and manage SQL secure infrastructure components such as data at rest, data in transit encryption as well as certificate management. • Develop, update, and troubleshoot scripts used to manage the SQL environment. • Gather requirements, design, architect, plan, and implement database solutions using virtualized SQL or cloud native database offerings. • Provides cluster and datacenter database administration, operational support, and problem resolution. • Collaborates with other datacenter engineers on incident, event, and problem resolution; expertise in Oracle and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and 8 desired; experience with VMWare virtualization and cloud platforms desired. • Works with various vendors to install, upgrade, configure, administer, automate, and optimize SQL virtualization architecture and associated software, providing a secure, reliable, and highly available data base platform to Data Center customers and services. • Performs software installation and upgrade automation including scripting in bash and python as well as automation of data center efforts using VMWare tools (VMWare Ops Manager, vRealize Automation/Orchestrator). • Develops and maintains a comprehensive system event, performance, and capacity monitoring plan. • Troubleshoots problems, takes appropriate corrective action and/or interacts with IT staff or vendors in performing complex testing, support and troubleshooting functions. • Coordinates troubleshooting and collaborates with customers to resolve customer database operation incidents. • Provides 24x7x365 on-call support in rotation with Technical Lead with other teammates nights/weekends with after hours response required in support of some incidents. • Supports monthly and quarterly security/application patching process. Qualifications Required • BS/BA+ 12 years, MS/MA + 10 years, PhD+7 years of experience.. Will consider HS+ 16 years of experience. • Experiencing implementing DISA STIGs and security controls. • Experience with implementing, planning, designing, operating, managing and monitoring SQL database platforms in cloud environments. • Experience deploying, upgrading, patching and managing large scale, data-center-based, virtualized SQL systems. • Experience implementing/configuring and troubleshooting backup/restore.. • Senior level experience in VMWare Aria Operations Suite, HP Blade System (or similar hardware platform), Log Management tool (SysLog/Log Insight), NetBackup, DISA STIGs/SRG.. • IAT Level II Certification (DOD 8570/8140), e.g. CompTIA Security+, CASP, CISSP, CISM, CIS, • US Citizenship required. • DoD SECRET Clearance. Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.Employment Type: FULL_TIME
