Performance Engineer

As a Performance Engineer, you will be building, executing, and analyzing tests with complex workloads for core database products with a vision of high performance and scalability. You would drive the performance improvements in YugabyteDB by sharing the contextual performance knowledge and conclusions with the internal teams. And by sharing benchmark results on blogs and other forums, you would also be an advocate for YugabyteDB performance to the external world. Performance engineering would help convert performance-sensitive prospects into customers.

Responsibilities:

• Build, execute and analyze tests with complex workloads for core database product.
• Design and run tests with complex workloads and data shapes to expose potential bottlenecks and failure points.
• Develop performance frameworks including test automation.
• Define testing strategy, metrics and execute performance related requirements
• Master best practices for performance tuning, capacity planning, and schema designing, more so related to data distribution, sharding strategies and indexes
• Build tooling for Performance, Development and Operations
• Analyze the results of performance tests and present a qualitative insight about the behavior of the product by doing code and design inspections.
• Collaborate with developers and critically analyze design spec and proposals from performance angles

Requirements:

• SQL expertise and a good understanding of database concepts
• Experience working on performance tuning of a database.
• Familiarity with Distributed DB concepts
• Solid understanding of process parameters like CPU, IO, disk etc.
• Hands on experience on system monitoring tools and frameworks
• Any scripting language
