Veritas is looking for an experienced Principal SRE (SaaS) to help us bring our flagship product into the cloud. This position will provide technical leadership around IaC, automated deployments, creating scripts and apps to help automate tasks, and sharing useful practices to all our SRE teams.
The engineer needs to have a strong background in development, operations, high reliability, and Cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure. They will be familiar with the use of configuration management automation tools such as Puppet (or other such tools), continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, and cloud provisioning tools such as Terraform. They will have strong skills and knowledge in the architecture, design, automation, and operation of large-scale enterprise environments.
The individual will possess strong experience in large enterprise environments containing petabytes of data and thousands of servers. They will also have strong scripting experience in a language such as Python or PowerShell.
Responsibilities:

Strong experience and focus on cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure.

Strong experience with build automation, security, and performance monitoring tools.

Strong experience with Jenkins administration and/or pipeline development.

Strong experience and knowledge with Windows and Linux servers.

Strong experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.

Experience provisioning and configuring repeatable, highly available infrastructure using tools such as Terraform.

Familiarity with microservice architecture, Docker, or Kubernetes.

Understanding of secure cloud networking.

Outstanding & proactive oral and written communication skills.

Experience with Elasticsearch is a big plus.

Infrastructure architecture and planning, especially in Azure.

Infrastructure-as-code development and provisioning automation.

Infrastructure reliability and high availability.

Security scanning and hardening.

Moving towards next generation technologies such as containerization.

Basic Qualifications:

MS/BS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related field of study with 8+ years of relevant experience.

Served on an operations team for a live SaaS environment with paying customers.

5+ years’ experience designing and implementing automated CI/CD pipelines.

4+ years working with containerized environments utilizing Docker/Kubernetes (EKS, AKS).
-
4+ years’ experience deploying and working in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud).
-
4+ years SaaS pipeline experience.
-
4+ years managing cloud infrastructure.
-
Excellent skills in a scripting language such as Python.

Solid understanding of build, test, deploy lifecycle of DevOps pipelines.
Additional Qualifications:

Leadership experience, a coaching and collaborative mindset, enjoys sharing ideas and good practices.

A strong background in Terraform, Ansible, shell scripting, python, and Angular.

Experience in setting up and configuring monitoring and tooling for the purpose of SRE/DevOps of a SaaS product.

Experience in New Relic and PagerDuty a plus.
