The Accident & Health Consulting Actuary will lead actuarial and multi-disciplinary consulting projects for insurance companies, self-insureds, and program managers. The A&H Consulting Actuary’s responsibilities include preparing and managing the completion of IBNR analyses, rate development, competitive research, benchmarking analyses, rate/rule filing support, reserve analyses, self-insured retention analyses, pro forma projections and funding studies, and product development.


What You'll Be Doing:
  • Developing and pricing A&H insurance products, such as short-term medical, long-term disability, critical illness, accident, dental, and vision.
  • Performing peer reviews of analyses completed by other consultants
  • Organizing/presenting competitive information in a meaningful format 
  • Preparing creative supporting exhibits for rate/rule filings, including preparing explanatory language
  • Preparing rate/rule interrogatory responses
  • Developing loss ratio forecasts
  • Recommending solutions and/or alternatives to clients
  • Corresponding directly with clients on project goals and results
  • Preparing proposals for projects to meet clients’ needs
  • Preparing polished, professional, clear reports to present results/information
  • Keeping informed on industry trends, changes in actuarial techniques, etc.
  • Invoicing clients


What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • ASA or FSA credentials
  • 6+ years experience working as an actuary in the Accident & Health industry
  • Term Life, Credit Life, Travel and/or Medicare Advantage experience a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software and additional software as needed
  • Ability to think creatively/imaginatively
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/projects with deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage the work of actuarial consultants
  • Ability to complete tasks with few conceptual/ structural/technical/cosmetic errors
