Job Summary and Qualifications

The Pharmacy Intern performs technical functions related to pharmaceutical preparation and distribution, provides inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical services including compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical supplies, intravenous admixtures and narcotics. May assist in the provision of drug consultation to patients, physicians, nurses and hospital personnel. All work is done under the supervision of a staff pharmacist.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Licensed Pharmacy Intern by the Colorado Board of Pharmacy
  • Enrollment in the at least the first professional year of an accredited college of pharmacy is required. Maintenance of a satisfactory grade point average is required. (Good Standing)
  • No experience required; previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Typing and use of computer keyboard; reading of some technical medical information, physician orders, patient MARs, checklists, and directions; math skills: basic math, algebra, measurements of amounts; preparation of reports, completion of forms and logs, writing telephone messages; communication via telephone, computer, and face to face with staff, patients, and small groups; excellent interpersonal skills with patients and other health care professionals. As further defined in position competencies. Ability to work with automated systems. Granted Pyxis/Meditech access and privileges.
  • All activities supervised by a pharmacist. Works independently, concise instruction given when needed, duties outlined on hiring, completed patient specific pharmaceutical work checked by pharmacist as required by State and Federal Law.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
