Safety Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Safety Coordinator owns Kaukauna plant safety system and is responsible for delivering desired results. Albany International is an Equal Opportunity Employer including Veterans and Disabled.

Safety and Procedures:

  • Follow all publicized safety policies/procedures and JIBS applicable to the job.
  • Use appropriate PPE that has been identified on the Hazard Analysis for the department/role.
  • Attend and participate in all safety training, safety meetings, audits and Behavior Based Safety programs assigned.
  • Report all safety hazards observed. If capable, correct the safety hazard identified.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Continually monitor requirements and best practices from OSHA, corporate and other appropriate organizations to ensure compliance with Safety regulations and standards
  • Engage with employees on all shifts and in all work areas to support and influence a culture of safety.
  • Maintain inventory of safety supplies
  • Facilitates the safety team
  • Coordinates incident investigations with leaders, root cause analysis, OSHA recordkeeping and completion of resulting action items
  • Manages the SIF(Serious Injury or Fatality)/observation program
  • Implements ideas to prevent or reduce incidents
  • Develop and enforce safety policies
  • Maintains & presents safety metrics
  • Assist with determining safety-related disciplinary actions
  • Conduct/coordinate required equipment inspections (hoists, fall protection, ladders, etc.)
  • Conduct required safety training/orientation and maintain records. This includes required training (Safety Absolutes, LOTO, HAZCOM, fire safety, etc.)
  • Conduct/coordinate required personnel monitoring (hearing tests, respirator fit tests, etc.)
  • Maintain SDS system and Environmental policies/procedures
  • Maintain all Job Instruction Breakdown Sheets (JIBS) for plant safety processes
  • Manage and preserve appropriate training records database, while monitoring and reporting on activities such as costs, performance, effectiveness, etc.
  • To perform all tasks requested by supervisor
  • Reads, understands and is committed to conducting business in accordance to Albany International's Business Ethics Policy. All business of the company should, at all times, be conducted ethically, fairly, honestly and with integrity
Requirements:

Required Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to get buy-in from leadership
  • Ability to be objective and impartial
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Safety conscious
  • Quality oriented
  • Ability to get along with all types of personalities
  • Highly organized

Required Experience:

  • 1-3 years' experience in a safety role strongly preferred
  • OSHA 30-hour certification strongly preferred

Education Requirements:

  • Associates Degree
  • Field of Study: Certificate or Associates degree (or beyond) in Occupational Health & Safety strongly preferred
