Position Description:
Nevada Gold Mines is looking for an Open Pit Sampler to join our Phoenix Operations team. The Open Pit Sampler will work in an outdoor, mine setting, which may include exposure to large equipment, proximity to highwalls, working on uneven surfaces, working in extreme temperatures. A successful candidate must demonstrate safety as a priority. Personal protective equipment is required when performing this work.
Responsibilities:
- Collect Daily: open pit drill samples, trench sampling, grab samples, proof samples. There will be approximately 150 to 300 samples per day. Sampling will be caught up to the drills daily.
- Keep current with maps and tags of drill patterns and BMM Movements and coordinate with drill blast Engineer.
- Provide Blast Movement Monitoring (BMM) Support, laying out BMM movement for daily shots and retrieving BMM movement daily and provide information to ore control geologist.
- Keep current with process sampling as needed.
- Provide survey support and relief when needed.
- Keep good inventory of sample bags, tools, tags, printer tape.
- Organize and prioritize daily workload for maximum efficiency.
- Must obtain a Part 107 Drone Pilots license within 4 months of hire date.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds required.
- Capability to multi-task, self-manage and self-motivate required.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards required.
- Willingness to work in inclement weather conditions for long periods of time required.
- Able to work alone a minimum of 1 day a week and achieve the all the sampling required.
- Ability to wear a respirator required.
