Junior Accountant

Phoenix Processor LP manages an at sea fish processor from our Seattle office. Established in 1988, we have a reputation for producing top quality fish products sold in the domestic and international market.

 

We are in need of an organized, efficient and qualified Junior Accountant to join our Finance Department. This position will be responsible for payroll and accounts payable processing, database maintenance, journal entries, and reconciliations to ensure the success of finance related directives, projects and initiatives.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Process wage garnishments and deductions from payroll
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting
  • Payroll journal entries
  • Manage accounts payable in a paperless system, including 1099 maintenance, vendor statements follow-up, and vendor inquiries
  • Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms
  • Match invoices to checks, obtain approvals and signatures, and distribute checks as requested
  • Process on-demand check requests
  • AR invoice posting
  • General ledger reconciliations and small monthly bank statements
  • Assist Finance Department with other related tasks
    • 2+ years hands on accounting experience, with and emphasis on Accounts Payable
    • Advanced Excel skills (pivots, lookups)
    • Sage Business/300 experience preferred
    • ADP experience helpful
    • Ability to multi-task is essential
    • Must be well organized with excellent attention to detail
    • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material essential
    • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
