We are currently seeking a highly qualified Outreach Expert to support our work on an upcoming NIST contract award focused on IoT cybersecurity.
Background
The Internet of Things (IoT) has become integral across various industry sectors, driving innovation and efficiency through real-time data collection and analytics. As IoT devices proliferate, they introduce expanded attack surfaces that must be managed to ensure system integrity, confidentiality, and availability. NIST has developed extensive guidance in IoT cybersecurity, and this contract aims to advance the usage and maintenance of these guidelines, support federal working groups, and enhance outreach efforts.
The Outreach Expert will support NIST in:
· Assisting CIO Council working groups in developing IoT guidance profiles.
· Advocating for international alignment of IoT standards and labeling.
· Creating supportive guidance and materials to facilitate the use of NIST IoT cybersecurity guidance.
· Developing and implementing outreach plans to promote NIST’s work to industry, standards organizations, and federal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
· Develop foundational communications content such as fact sheets, white papers, and blogs, with associated graphics.
· Track relevant meetings and events for IoT outreach opportunities.
· Create and deliver presentations on the NIST Cybersecurity for IoT program and its outputs.
· Review and recommend updates to the Cybersecurity for IoT Program website and its content.
· Facilitate communication and outreach to federal stakeholders, standards development communities, researchers, and the private sector interested in IoT cybersecurity.
Qualifications
· Experience: Minimum 16 years of relevant technical experience in IT-related projects.
· Education: Bachelor's degree required. A Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of experience, and a PhD degree may substitute for 5 years of experience. Alternatively, 20 years of relevant work experience can substitute for a college degree.
Additional Requirements
· Specialty knowledge of landscape of IoT product related conferences and outreach opportunities
· At least 3 years of experience writing blogs or other short documents on cybersecurity related topics for a broad audience
· At least 3 years of experience developing presentations on cybersecurity-related topics for varied audiences.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
