The LGBTQI+ Outreach Navigator provides services across 3 counites (Dutchess, Orange and Ulster) in Region 2 South. The LGBTQI+ Outreach Navigator plays a crucial role in connecting, navigating, and empowering individuals within the LGBTQI+ community by facilitating outreach initiatives and ensuring accessibility to vital resources and services. This role involves fostering inclusivity, building relationships, and awareness of available support services. Travel is required up to 60% of the time.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Engagement and Outreach (60%):
· Actively engage with local LGBTQI+ community to understand its diverse needs and preferences.
· Establish and maintain positive relationships with community members, organizations, and leaders to expand the network of support to LGBTQI+ individuals.
· Advocate for the rights and well-being of LGBTQI+ individuals.
· Plan and execute outreach events, workshops, and activities that promote awareness and inclusivity.
· Identify opportunities for community-building and collaboration, facilitate partnerships that enhance the well-being of LGBTQI+ community members.
· Conduct educational workshops and outreach programs to increase awareness and understanding of LGBTQI+ issues and services.
· Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to promote inclusivity.
Navigation (40%):
· Identify and connect individuals with relevant community resources, healthcare services, support network, and legal assistance.
· Stay informed about local, regional, and national LGBTQI+-related services and programs.
· Ensure that resource materials are culturally competent and accessible.
· Provide assistance and support during crisis situations, connecting individuals to appropriate resources.
· Work closely with the Navigator in R2N to ensure referral lists are updated regularly.
· Maintain a working knowledge of AIRS, Salesforce and other reporting platforms as necessary. Complete all documentation and reports as required and within expected timelines.
· Participate in NYS LGBT Network Meetings and Subcommittees as required.
