Manager of operation producing medical devices from manufacturing, finishing, shipping and product development

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a plant manager to join our Life Sciences business at our Fiskeville, RI location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Life Sciences business. This position will report to the manufacturing director.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintaining a safe work environment for all site employees and visitors while complying with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations and company guidelines
  • Developing and implementing a strategic plan for the site and balancing its immediate needs with the long-term goals of the company
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and facilitate implementation of initiatives that improve profitability of the site.
  • Management of onsite production and shipping operations to ensure adequate material supply and on time delivery to customers
  • Management of contract manufacturing operations
  • Working closely with support organizations to resolve production issues, quality issues, improve efficiency, respond to customer complaints, and support on time deliveries of finished goods
  • Ability to travel (<10%)

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical discipline
  • Ability to lead, influence, build, and developing a cross-functional team across various skill sets
  • Experience working within and complying with all governmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, FDA, etc.) and reporting requirements
  • Proficient in all MS office software and ability to quickly learn job specific systems

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Manufacturing engineer / R&D experience around scale up to production
  • Coating & laminating experience
  • Experience with data management software such as SAP and the use of MRP.
  • Six Sigma, Lean or relevant continuous improvement experience
