Plant Mechanic

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and in coordination with the O&M services Contract at a combined cycle power plant. This position is responsible for the general mechanical maintenance activities of the plant. The primary responsibility of this job is to conduct maintenance functions safely, reliably, efficiently, and in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Typical tasks include but not limited to oil/grease plant equipment, bearing change out, alignment of rotating equipment, pump change out (horizontal and vertical configurations), boiler inspections, support maintenance contractors during planned/unplanned outages, work overtime-weekends-holidays.

1. Performs repair and maintenance work following blueprints, sketches, technical manuals,

and procedures. Maintains all facility equipment through corrective, predictive, and planned activities.

2. Identifies mechanical and machinery design, identifies problems, and recommends

modifications necessary for improvement and resolution.

3. Performs upkeep of the maintenance management system and other administrative

tasks as assigned. Maintain logs of problems, repairs, and downtime.

4. Follows safety/environmental rules and regulations. Implements safe working practices and immediately identifies hazards and recommends and/or implements repairs. Follows all safety/environmental policies, procedures, rules and participates in training. Promotes the Company’s Safety Vision through actions and conduct.

5. Performs power plant rigging and operates lifting equipment necessary for safe handling

of heavy machinery and materials.

6. Train others to gain knowledge as required. Provides training (safety and mechanical

maintenance) for new hires and for refresher items. Receives training to further individual knowledge and prepares oneself for advancement.

7. Assists in the investigation of plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events

and provides input and recommendations for reports and follow-up plans.

8. Writes, reviews and revises maintenance and related procedures.

9. Troubleshoots equipment and systems and provides/performs corrective action. Performs failure analysis to determine the cause of equipment/system malfunction.

10. Will work with outside contractors during overhauls or at other times, when Contractors

are engaged in Plant work.

11. Will develop or assist in the development of work packages for projects and outage

repairs. Will perform as contractor coordinator/job lead as required on projects and maintenance outages.

12. Attend to housekeeping at the end of each job/task. Maintains plant cleanliness.

13. Completes all training/qualifications required to be a Mechanical Technician.

14. Must be able to work scheduled hours, overtime both scheduled and unscheduled, on

days off and beyond regular work schedule and to perform shift work, including holidays,

nights and weekends, when required. Ability to respond to high priority call outs.

15. Follows all Company policies and expectations and behaves in a manner that promotes

16. Maintains and responsible for keeping company provided tools in a clean and safe

condition.
