Portfolio Controller - Private Equity Advisory

As a part of our national Private Equity advisory team, you will play an integral part on projects. We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering financial/operational accounting solutions to our Private Equity sponsored clients across the country. This role provides an opportunity to optimize the accounting function and close process of clients and to help them seamlessly integrate acquisitions and maximize synergies across each of their business units. This is an entrepreneurial role in a rapidly growing firm where you can have an immediately positive impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting Support
  • Improve financial planning and analysis (budgeting, forecasting, data analysis)
  • Review of monthly internal financial reporting packs
  • Review of monthly regulatory reporting
  • Review of quarterly and annual SEC reporting

  • General Accounting Close Support
  • Lead clients to develop a streamlined monthly close process
  • Manage implementation of cloud-based finance and accounting systems
  • Assist with cash to accrual conversions and creation of supporting schedules
  • Validate the existence of assets and prepare associated roll forwards (fixed assts, inventory, cash, etc.)
  • Assist with internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements
  • Manage implementation of cloud-based finance and accounting systems
  • Support Internal and External Audit Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies

  • Operations Support
  • Liaise with business units outside of accounting to incorporate relevant functions into an integration plan
  • Assist IT teams integrate acquiree and acquirer financial systems
  • Assist operations transfer insurability and asset titles from acquiree to acquirer

  • Role within Our Practice:
  • Coach teams and individuals to success and foster a spirit of collaboration
  • Provide guidance on all areas involving accounting/finance functions to include: financial reporting, operational accounting, technical accounting, transactions
  • Manage client accounts, projects, and engagements, including: work plans, staffing, deadlines, and budgets throughout all lifecycle phases – strategy, goal setting, deliverables, and maintaining an integrated project plan
  • Create presentations that effectively inform and influence client decisions
  • Coach teams and individuals to success and foster a spirit of collaboration
  • Develop timely resolutions to issues, risks, and project team conflicts
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 40%

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of overall experience with a minimum of two advising Private Equity backed portfolio companies in one or more of the following areas: financial reporting, operational accounting
  • Prior experience in professional services (public accounting or advisory firm)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to foster an environment of collaboration and excellence
  • Detail oriented with the ability to think from a “big picture” perspective
  • Creativity, confidence, and flexibility
  • Enthusiasm and a great sense of humor!
