Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (“BBH”) is seeking an experienced professional to join the BBH Capital Partners (“BBHCP”) Private Equity team as an Associate in the Operational Resources Group (“ORG”). BBHCP is the Private Equity group within Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., the oldest private bank in the U.S. BBH’s Private Equity business is coordinated out of the New York office, where this position will be based.
About BBH Capital Partners
BBH Capital Partners makes both control and significant minority equity investments in growing, middle-market companies across three primary industries: Healthcare, Tech/Media/Telecom and Business Products & Services. BBHCP is currently investing out of two private equity funds: CP VI, a $1.2B fund, and CP Opportunities, a $250M fund. BBHCP seeks to be a value-added partner to portfolio company management teams, leveraging the expertise and resources of the team and the broader BBH network to deliver successful investment outcomes. BBHCP currently oversees 22 portfolio companies and has consistently delivered strong investment performance throughout its history.
About the Operational Resources Group
The ORG is the Portfolio Operations team within BBH Capital Partners. The ORG is an integral part of BBHCP and works closely with deal teams to support accelerated enterprise value growth throughout the entire BBHCP portfolio and across both funds. ORG team members partner directly with portfolio company executives to develop, recommend, and support implementation of strategic and operational initiatives, gaining tangible experience while helping to drive results and increase enterprise value at middle market companies. The ORG is heavily involved in all aspects of the private equity deal lifecycle, from transaction diligence through value creation during hold period and exit.
The current ORG team consists of former management consultants, operators, and industry executives from a variety of premium consulting and operating company backgrounds who are:
  • Outcomes-oriented: Our priority is delivering results, not spending time on non-value-added activities.
  • Strategic thinkers: We focus on the most important value creation opportunities for each company and across the portfolio to enable strong investment returns.
  • Analytic and data-driven: We use a pragmatic, data-first approach, using quantitative analytics to develop strategic insights for our portfolio companies.
  • Collaborative: We work closely with the management teams at our portfolio companies to understand their businesses, earn their trust, and collaborate on critical strategic priorities.
About the Role
You would be a great fit for this role if:
  • You have 2-4 years of experience in a management consulting or similarly quantitative and analytical position in business operations, financial planning, and analysis (FP&A), or a related function, and you have demonstrated that you are a top performer.
  • You are intellectually curious. You will take any difficult problem and drive it to its completion.
  • You are a self-starter and have a bias to action. You are proactive and think strategically to understand where we are going and what that means today.
  • You communicate clearly, effectively, and efficiently. You can take complex topics and explain them in a simple and understandable manner.
  • You are comfortable with complex data and have mastery of the tools needed to manipulate it. You get excited when you can creatively use data to define and solve problems.
  • You have attention for detail. You are rigorous in your review of your work for accuracy and consistency.
Ultimately, each ORG team member has the chance to make a substantial impact both independently and within a small team structure, gaining invaluable operational, investment and leadership skills along the way. BBHCP is a tight knit team that operates in a collaborative culture. We value the contributions of each team member and invest to develop, support, and provide learning opportunities to the team at all levels.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, genetic information, creed, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other protected status under federal, state or local law.
