Your Next Career Opportunity – Senior Process Improvement Analyst
The position's primary purpose is to support the enhancement of SBA's accounting policy functions by assisting with various strategic initiatives. The role is largely project-focused, aiming to evaluate current processes, propose solutions for enhanced efficiency, and document functional and technical requirements. Other responsibilities include support with the implementation of policies and procedures, support with technical accounting guidance research, maintenance of and oversight of the control environment, and departmental training development. This position provides the opportunity to work closely with cross-functions teams and interact with corporate leadership across SBA's business areas.
What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor all new and existing U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and SEC guidance to ensure compliance.
- Perform research and assist with the preparation of technical accounting position papers and memorandums.
- Work across various business functions to document and refine accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide support to key accounting functions and SEC filings.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives. Document current processes and related functional requirements driving key solutions. Assist with leading project teams for successful implementation.
- Assess changes to the internal control environment, provide recommendations, and ensure documentation is accurate and updated timely.
- Provide assistance to internal and external auditors during quarterly review and annual audit processes.
- Develop and deliver training for the accounting team and other departments for the transition of new processes. Assist with cross-departmental training curriculum incorporating SBA’s Guiding Principles.
- Participate/lead in special projects as assigned.
- Process Improvement Focus Area: This position is responsible for actively managing new systems implementation and process changes, coordinating continuous improvement initiatives and training of new hires as well as training for new systems implementation and process changes for the Organization.
- Work in collaboration with Director, Managers, staff, and Accounting Systems to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Coordinates continuous projects through process improvement methodology to quantitatively and qualitatively improve operational efficiency, cost, quality, and service.
- Leads project teams, establishes project schedules, and performs project management.
- Provides project functional requirements, as-is and to-be process mapping, and other related process documentation to project teams and obtains sign-off validation.
- Performs data gathering, root cause analysis, and performance trending in order to develop appropriate process control changes.
- Coordinates with Subject Matter Experts to develop process improvement reports for setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations and conclusions.
- Verifies that the proposed system implementation and/or process change can achieve its intended results through pre-implementation review.
- Verifies that business requirements have been satisfied through User Acceptance Testing. Requirements span Process, People, Information, and Technology.
- Verifies that the business requirements achieved their intended results through regular post-implementation audits.
- Communicates findings to IT and the business, gaining consensus and turning findings into clearly defined action plans and outcomes.
- Prioritizes and implements process change requirements based on critical project needs.
- Executes cross-functional process improvements central to business operations success.
- Serves as a change agent inside the organization, willing to assume responsibility and develop new approaches to solve problems.
- Determines fiscal requirements and personnel resources and prepares communication plans required for process changes.
- Responsible for the implementation of new systems and process improvements.
- Identifies training needs for employees related to system implementation and process changes, establishes schedules, and performs training.
- Provides regular management reports to demonstrate progress.
Maintains and monitors compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field of study;and 3-5 years of general accounting experience, data analysis/analytics, and process improvement experience required.
or 3-5 years knowledge of GAAP (and IFRS preferred) with at least two years of recent public accounting experience preferred.
- Great Plains or other ERP system experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and advanced proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Pref
