GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
You will play an integral role in content production for The Met’s social media channels, including WeChat, Weibo, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and other channels as needed, with a particular focus on WeChat and Weibo to engage Chinese-speaking audiences. You will showcase the breadth and depth of the Museum’s collection, programs, and activities and enhance visitor engagement through immersive, innovative, fun, engaging, and educational content, hopping onto platform trends as relevant opportunities arise.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Research, write, photograph, film, and produce content for The Met’s social media channels, including WeChat, Weibo, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and more
  • Strategize ideas based on current exhibitions, cultural moments, social media trends, etc, in tandem with the social media senior manager and team.
  • Work across platforms to identify and engage with creators, with particular attention to trends happening in mainland China and on WeChat and Weibo global platforms to engage art-lovers worldwide.
  • Shoot video and photography on iPhone; DSLR and/or mirrorless camera, as well as gimbal, microphones, ring light, and other associated equipment.
  • Build relationships across the organization to create engaging material and environment.
  • Engage socially with audiences and create digital audience engagement.
  • Work wide range of internal people to understand social media platforms and trends.
  • Contribute to larger projects as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 2 years of experience in social media video production
  • Fluency in English and Simplified Chinese
  • Copywriting skills
  • Proficiency in Photoshop
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Experience with Cap Cut and Premiere
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Interest in emerging social media products/tools
  • Knowledge of and interest in art history
COMPENSATION RANGE
  • Pay Range : $75,000 - $80,000/Annual
  • The advertised pay scale reflects the good faith minimum and maximum salary range for this role. The advertised pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage for any specific employee. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.
Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
