Role Overview


The CrewBoss Product Designer coordinates with Sales, Marketing and Production in the design and development of new and existing products, generates and maintains all product design related information and manages projects to ensure compliance. This position plays an integral role in the overall development cycle of styles, from conception to production. From working directly with the New Product Development team in various capacities to help drive the development & commercialization process to working with Design and Technical Design to ensure technical packages are comprehensive and meet the products goals for delivery, function, cost, fit and commercial viability. This position reports to the CrewBoss Vice President of Sales.


Responsibilities


  • Create product illustrations and specifications
  • Create fully graded production ready garment patterns
  • Work with design team to develop production ready samples
  • Develop tech packs for manufacturing partners
  • Understand NFPA design requirements
  • Manage UL product certification projects
  • Maintain and update product samples and information
  • Handle daily communication with domestic and overseas vendors
  • Work with product development through each aspect of tech pack/point of measurement/BOM creation, fit & development.
  • Proactively organize & manage daily workflow that adheres to seasonal calendar milestones & development timelines
  • Create and manage technical packages to assure documentation is current and accurate.
  • Measure samples and document all measurements and styling / construction differences based off tech pack.
  • Ensure all appropriate development documentation is maintained including fabric/component detail sheets
  • Collaborate with Design and Sales to ensure product meets objectives. This includes suggesting solutions to achieve product goals.
  • Identify, improve, correct and relay fit, spec and construction issues through written comments and illustrations to overseas factories
  • Review and comment on pre-production samples
  • Work with manufacturers and suppliers on current and future development projects. Minimal travel may be required.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with design, merch & tech design to discuss development progress
  • Communicate product related changes to the necessary departments
  • Research and work with Design to explore industry trends, innovation techniques and suppliers
  • Ability to attend industry tradeshows

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to sit, bend or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers typing and/or writing.
  • Working frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).


Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree in Apparel Design (or similar field) OR
  • 3 -5 years relevant industry experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software
  • Experience with ERP/PLM/PDM systems strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed for trade shows and visiting vendors/suppliers
  • Experience in the First Responder Industry is a plus
