We are looking for individuals with exceptional proven customer relationship and consultancy skills within the field of ESG to join our Energy Systems business in North America.As a Professional ESG Consultant within our Energy Systems business area, you will work with customers motivated to responsibly delivering on the energy transition. Our rapidly growing Energy Systems team combines multidisciplinary experts from the renewables, storage, power grid, oil and gas, low carbon fuels and energy efficiency backgrounds partnered with specialists on ESG factors such as climate risk, circular economy, social engagement, health & safety, policy and governance, and key environmental topics. As Professional ESG Consultant, you will work within this business area to advise financial institutions and energy and infrastructure companies on ESG due diligence, strategies, and sustainability programs.This is an exciting opportunity in a growing market with a team where you will develop and implement our business strategy, deliver key performance indicators on target, and collaborate within multi-disciplinary consultancy teams distributed across the region and globe. This position will ideally be based in our New York (NY), Middletown (CT) or Oakland (CA) office. Remote work may be considered for the right candidate.

What You ll Do

Much of the drive for sustainability in energy in North America change comes from the financial community, meaning you will work with investors, asset managers and corporate management teams. You will be responsible for managing and advising on important interactions between these three critical groups, contributing to the commercial growth and delivery of our ESG services, and contributing to consulting projects that include buy-side, sell-side, and project finance due diligence deals, as well as implementation of sustainability programs. Some of the key tasks you will carry out include:

  • Managing existing accounts and actively approaching potential new customers through marketing and business development activities, responding to direct requests and public tenders
  • Contributing to creative forms of essential thought leadership
  • Actively monitoring Canadian regulatory and compliance frameworks for ESG related market drivers
  • Delivering according to customer expectations
  • Managing projects/studies for assets in the energy and infrastructure sectors, ensuring they are meeting or exceeding clients expectations on time, budget and up to DNV quality standards
  • Communicating effectively with your project teams and clients
  • Performing ESG due diligence and materiality assessments for companies or at a portfolio level
  • Implementing ESG frameworks and standards that support reporting and disclosure of customers
  • Evaluating ESG performance of companies in relevant sectors
  • Achieving business goals according to personal and unit sales goals

Position Qualifications

What is RequiredThis position requires a proactive and solution-orientated individual that is comfortable interacting with large financial institutions, corporate management, and technical disciplines alike. The scope of what is required for this position includes but is not limited to:

  • A strong interest and, ideally, consultancy experience within the sustainability and ESG space including decarbonization, climate risk, social justice, health & safety, human rights, circular economy, supply chain, biodiversity, and policy
  • Academic qualifications and/or accreditation relevant to ESG and sustainable business subject areas or related field
  • Knowledge of sustainable development goals, The Paris Agreement framework, climate change and energy transition frameworks and standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI); Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI); Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD); Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB); Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP); etc.
  • Proactive approach to developing customer relationships, identifying problems or challenges, and developing solutions through stakeholder or customer insight
  • Flexible attitude to working in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary environment
  • Ability to work in an international team, delivering high quality written outputs within agreed time periods
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively managing several tasks in parallel
  • Flexible attitude to working in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary environment
  • Excellent report writing, oral communication and presentation skills required
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, locally and/or regionally
  • Must possess a valid driver s license and be able to rent and drive a car and travel on public conveyances when required
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
