Job Responsibilities
1. Effectively lead and support the implementation of principles and philosophies expressed in company documents within your assigned farm (i.e. Team Charter, Commitment, Managing Principles, and Cultural Beliefs, etc.)
2. Assist with the hiring and training of all employees within your assigned farm in direct communication with your Supervisor and within guidelines set forth by company policies. Assure the documented and continued growth of your farm team members. Develop those who have the ability to promote within the farm and the department.
3. Assist with the management of flocks within your assigned farm in direct communication with your Supervisor and within the guidelines set forth by the Department Production guide to achieve optimum breeder performance.
4. Assist with the planning and directing of farm work within your assigned farm on a regularly scheduled basis within parameters set forth by corporate and division policies. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining accurate egg records, mortality, individual flock records pertaining to broody control, night birds, bird handling, time cards, and attendance calendars.
5. Assist with the management and monitoring of the environmental conditions of the farm's flocks, seeing that all details necessary for maximizing performance are carried out on a consistent basis.
6. Know, understand and enforce all sanitation and isolation procedures as set forth by Breeder Division policy, along with all company policies, rules, and/or guidelines.
7. Responsible to see that your assigned farms and working areas are maintained in a neat and orderly condition. Assure that your farms operation is done in a manner that will enhance public perception of the company within the local community.
8. Assure that feed is scheduled and ordered in a timely manner with a follow-up on proper delivery.
9. Monitor labor schedules to assure budgeted labor cost per fertile egg is achieved within your assigned farm for each fiscal year while maintaining quality, safety, and yield objectives.
10. Monitor and assure the implementation of all department maintenance programs designed to maintain all facilities and equipment within your assigned farm.
11. Assist the Department Manager in developing and executing profit plans and capital expenditure plans on an annual basis, while being knowledgeable of resources needed for performance and setting objectives for improvement.
12. Assure the completion of all breeder service jobs necessary for proper performance of breeder flocks. Service jobs include: inseminations, blood testing, selecting, vaccinating, loading, live bird transfers, and miscellaneous non-bird breeder farm activities.
13. Assure that all employees are kept informed and involved in department activities and problem solving through a regular schedule of employee meetings, salaried meetings, and participation in problem solving teams.
14. Manage facilities, flocks, and bird handling activities in a manner consistent with established animal welfare guidelines. Give input and guidance to improve animal handling and care processes.
15. Through leadership, development of competencies, training, and effective role modeling, personally embrace our Cultural Beliefs to create experiences, beliefs, and actions that will drive our key results.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience scheduling and directing employees
  • A valid driver's license with good vehicle operating record
  • A pattern of initiative and leadership
  • Discipline, responsibility, and motivation
  • A forward thinking attitude and strong organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and decision-making ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to accept challenge and deal positively with adversity
  • Basic computer skills - experience with email (Outlook) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) software

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least three years supervisory experience
  • A degree in animal husbandry or a related field
