***The Professional Services Coding Specialist position will require new hire to work 90 day commitment to onsite training/ orientation @ OHH Financial Services Location: 7800 NW 85th Terrace, OKC OK 73132. Position will transition to remote after completion of 90 day department orientation.
Responsibilities:
The OHH Professional Coding Specialist will be responsible for assisting in coding and compliance issues, including entering data from the hospital, office, and satellite offices. Also responsible for generating and reviewing payment discrepancy reports on an ongoing basis for all Medicare and Managed Care contracts. Reviews denials and write-offs from third-party payers. Will be responsible for generating appeal letters to send to the payer to dispute the denial or underpayment identified. Act as a resource for Charge Entry to assist with coding questions to ensure charges are entered correctly. Verify and audit charges checking for correctness and completeness before charges are processed for billing, insurance filing, and receipt posting. Maintain updated procedure and diagnosis codes in computer files. Performs work following the mission, vision, and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
- Maintain a working knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding principles, governmental regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements regarding billing, coding, and Compliance.

Keep abreast of Medicare and insurance payer rules, regulations, and changes.

Obtain patient information from physicians and/or nurses regarding hospitalized patients' services and update demographics as received on patient accounts, emphasizing the patient insurance corresponding with patient type.

Work closely with Heath Information Management, Business Office, and Compliance by maintaining timely oral and written communication.

Responsible for auditing visits to ensure correct documentation (diagnoses, procedural codes, etc.). Ensure that operative reports are attached to billings as applicable.

Assist Charge Entry, Billing, and Collections units to identify and verify the correct coding of encounters.

Responsible for being up-to-date and knowledgeable on coding ethics and diagnostic procedures and remaining current about federal legislative changes that affect outcomes.
Qualifications:
Licensure/Certifications: Must possess C.C.S, C.P.C, RHIT or RHIA
Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of charge entry and/or coding in a medical setting with knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT4
Working Knowledge: Windows-based operating systems preferred. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Medical terminology and medical insurance knowledge are required. Proficiency in CPT and ICD-10 coding. Knowledge of coding policies and procedures and reimbursement practices. Confidentiality of patient and financial information. Must be able to assess self-learning skills and participate in educational programs as appropriate.
