Why this Role Exists 


The Medical Assistant - Certified / Phlebotomist role is essential for supporting both clinical and laboratory functions. This role ensures that patients receive precise and timely medical attention and specimen collection while assisting physicians with administrative and clinical duties.


Responsibilities 


Medical Assistant Duties:


- Assist in patient examinations and treatments under physician supervision.


- Conduct patient interviews and measure vital signs.


- Record or input patient information into medical records.


- Prepare treatment rooms and administer medications.


- Educate patients and caregivers about procedures and treatments.


- Handle administrative tasks including supply ordering, phone answering, and appointment scheduling.


- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and utilize clinical documentation and EHR software.


- Other duties as assigned.


Phlebotomist Duties:


- Obtain and prepare blood and non-blood specimens for laboratory analysis.


- Perform and report screening tests.


- Process specimens for laboratory testing and reference dispatch.


- Resolve ambiguous test orders and ensure compliance with laboratory policies.


- Maintain a clean work area and contribute to general laboratory functions.


Requirements Preferred Qualifications


- High school diploma or equivalent.


- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.


- Phlebotomy certification required.


- Up to 3 years of experience in a patient-facing role or clinical research setting.


- 1-3 years of experience in phlebotomy.


- Proficient in medical record keeping, EHR software, and HIPAA compliance.


- Preferred Qualifications 


- Previous experience or education in a health-related field.


Travel Requirements 


- Travel to site(s) as needed




Physical Requirements

·       Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing and walking.

·       Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.

·       Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

·       Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

·       Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.

·       The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
