Program Director (Memphis, TN)

We are looking for a Program Director in our Orthopaedics business. This leader will be responsible for development and preparation for launch readiness of platform technologies and enablers within the Trauma & Extremities portfolio. They will work closely with their R&D, PMO, Marketing, Quality and Regulatory Affairs peers to lead complex new product development (NPD) programs and ensure compliance to relevant markets. This individual will bring a clear sense of urgency and demonstrate a consistent track record of driving innovation leading to the introduction of new technologies in the marketplace.
This leader will have a broad understanding of the S+N Orthopaedics business as well as the geographical regions, in addition to deep understanding of the PMO systems and drive efficiency initiatives. You work closely with the R&D and Commercial organizations to effectively implement and maintain the portfolio governance process including intake, prioritization, governance, and tracking of value realization.
This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but will have 20-30 teammembers whom they will direct and guide on a daily/weekly basis.
What will you be doing?

Own overall PMO / portfolio governance processes including program intake process creation, portfolio governance, roadmap planning and execution for the assigned program(s).

Lead efforts to transition large scale/complex programs from charter through commercialization

Form and lead cross-functional new product development team in executing project objectives according to a written, approved performance agreement (Development review through to Market Launch)

Work with partner groups to gain alignment & support to achieve project objectives

Ensure projects are executed in compliance with regulatory requirements and Phase Review Discipline requirements

Transfer product & manufacturing processes from to operations & marketing organizations at launch of project

Collect & disseminate knowledge acquired during projects to improve S&N product development processes & systems

Participate as a senior leader to improve environment & business systems of S&N

Ensure that domestic & global market strategy, assumptions, business opportunities are measured & periodically reviewed throughout duration of project execution & initial product launch

Define the measures that drive governance decisions to ensure processes are in place using accurate data

Define the governance process so that the services, process, technology, data, and policy requirements are being met for our customers
What will you need to be successful?

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related subject area. MBA preferred

10+ years of experience managing many aspects of PMO and Governance in a global context at a medical device manufacturer

Experience in owning large/complex portfolio governance processes including process creation, portfolio governance calendar planning/management, and execution is required

Must be a great teammate who can work across organizations and teams to produce high quality project management and governance outcomes

Analytical skills and experience leading risk-based oversight programs required

Travel: Up to approximately 15% domestic and international travel may be required
