Program Manager

Overview:
The Program Manager (PM) having more professional experience uses concepts and company objectives to lead the successful development and launch of new products. This individual, requiring a low level of supervisory oversight, leads cross-functional teams to achieve the objectives of multiple projects/programs, while ensuring strong collaboration and communication. The Program Manager anticipates risks, problem solves, and removes roadblocks to avoid or reduce negative impact to the project/program, while participating in identifying ways to improve project execution. The Program Manager keeps stakeholders and company Leadership up to date on the status of the programs/projects they lead, and mentors less-experienced team members helping them come up to speed quickly.

  • Accountable for leading multiple product commercialization projects through the Product Life Cycle (PLC) and possibly small, low-risk TechDev projects, working closely with project sponsors and stakeholders to execute to project scope, cost, and schedule deliverables while maintaining output quality
    • Current series, new series, business expansion, across all business units
  • Identifies and develops work instructions for baseline processes within the Program Management team
  • Develops project structure including:
    • Core Team list
    • Schedule formulated with the Team
    • Identify Risks. Recommends alternatives. Develops mitigation plans.
    • Shared team information source (OneNote)
    • Long term project record (Agile)
    • Progress reports
  • Manages attention to results
    • Actively manage Cost/Schedule/Quality and project scope to original objectives, using standard PLC process tools
    • Lead cross-functional team meetings. Some teams may be globally based
    • Identify and manage project critical path and dependencies
    • Timely completion of Product Life Cycle gates and milestones
    • As the primary project escalation point, quickly analyze/remove roadblocks and resolve cross-functional issues
    • Formulate and present issue mitigation/solution plans to the team and Management
    • Communicate project progress via Stand-Up meetings, Weekly Exec Updates, Reports, etc.
  • Draws valuable insight and meaning after the project has completed
    • Emphasize project successes with the Team and Leadership
    • Identify improvements to cycle time, cost, and quality for future programs
  • Participates in defining and refining Program Management process improvements across all business units
  • Seeks opportunities to increase project management skills and abilities through continuing education as well as professional (business/strategic/leadership) development
  • Mentors Project Specialists and Project Coordinators
  • Support and maintain a positive safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures and actively contributing to a safe working environment

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of four years’ Program Management experience required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification desired.
