Site Safety Manager

Progressive Design, Inc. is currently seeking a Site Safety Manager to support a chemical manufacturing plant in Suffolk, Virginia. 

This role will support a growing number of capital projects and assist with overall site safety operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial safety, preferably within chemical manufacturing or similar industries.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Support the process of work permit issuance without directly writing them.

- Facilitate site safety orientation for new employees, contractors, and visitors.

- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

- Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols to enhance the safety culture within the plant.

- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.

- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.

- Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions and drills.

- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.

- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to integrate safety into all aspects of project planning and execution.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records and documentation.

 

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.

- Relevant certifications such as OSHA 300, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or similar are highly desirable.

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or industrial environment.

- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other industry-specific safety standards.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence others.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Local candidates preferred to limit per diem/travel costs, but not mandatory.
