Job Output


Under the supervision of the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Manager, this position is accountable for the effective planning, development, and execution of plant-level capital projects and improvement initiatives to improve safety systems, manufacturing processes, maintenance services, and physical facilities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Providing project support for the safe and successful implementation of the plant capital project plan
  • Analyzing and implementing manufacturing process improvements.
  • Supporting Plant, Divisional, and corporate proposed efforts, and driving equipment reliability.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities through the use of Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Interfacing with Plant Staff, Corporate Engineering, Customers, New Product Development, and outside contractors.
  • Responsible for providing direction and leadership to maintenance personnel and contractors as required for safe and successful project implementation.
  • Serve as technical Subject Matter Expert for plant maintenance group as necessary.
  • Support plant safety systems by driving safety improvements and serving as a member of plant safety teams.
  • Responsible for developing the scope and budget for small-scale capital projects.
  • Will require less than 10% travel, including overnight.

  • Participating in Plant Safety Systems – 15%
  • Executing Plant Capital Projects – 65%
  • Supporting Day-to-Day Manufacturing Processes – 20%


Measures of Effectiveness:

  • Safety performance; Lost time injuries, OSHA recordable, Outside care cases
  • Product Quality and Overall Equipment Effectiveness
  • Project completion success criteria such as safety, cost, schedule, and performance
  • Equipment Reliability
  • Employee satisfaction and morale
  • Compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Compliance with defined standard work capital project management practices


Organizational Relationships:

  • Reports directly to the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Manager
  • Works closely with Plant Engineering Team, Maintenance Technicians, Team Leaders, and Plant Leadership Team
  • Closely collaborates with all plant functions such as Value Streams, Logistics, Procurement, Safety, Finance, Quality, and New Product Development

Education and/or Experience

  • Candidates must have a BS in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • 1+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Possess strong leadership, communication, project management, and computer skills (including SAP, CAD, and Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team-based environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts

Our Hilliard Plant employs 100+ people across multiple shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of acoustical ceiling tile. The Hilliard plant prides itself in placing high priority on safety, quality and exceeding customer expectations.
